Baale Mane Trust Legal Framework & Registration

The Baale Mane Trust operates The Baale Mane Girls’ Home. It is a social enterprise registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1961. It has been registered under Section 12A  and granted approval under Section 80G of The Income Taxes Act, 1961 for domestic donations, to attract tax relief at 50% of the amount donated. The registration number is DIT(E)BLR/80G/53/AABTB4740M/ITO(E)-1Vol 2010-11. Permanent permission for funds donated by international donors has been received in accordance with The Foreign Contributions Regulation Act (FCRA) 2010.

Baale Mane is a member of Keeping Children Safe. KCS is an independent not-for-profit organisation. They set out internationally recognised child safeguarding standards that ensure all organisations working directly for and with children have comprehensive safeguarding measures in place. Their independence means that their standards and advice are not influenced by any other organisation or government. As a member, Baale Mane is committed to protecting children by developing and promoting the KCS International Child Safeguarding Standards. Click here to read more about KCS.


The Baale Mane Advisory Board is constituted of the Trustees of The Baale Mane Trust and members of the trustees of The Friends of Baale Mane. It holds at least one face to face meeting in India each year when two or more trustees of The Friends of Baale Mane are present. More frequent virtual meetings are held. The Board is responsible for strategy and direction and the approval of all senior hires. It also approves the annual budget.

The Friends of Baale Mane have a policy that trustees must donate funds that exceed any expenses they incur, such that all third party donations are passed to Baale Mane Trust without overhead.
