MONETARY DONATIONS
Daily Running Costs - It costs on average RS59,000 or £750 in operating costs to keep each girl for a year at our current level of expenditure. Per month this is roughly Rs. 5,000/- , which will pay for one child’s survival, protection, participation and development costs. This includes food (+salary for two gardeners and gas for stove etc), school fees, stationary, books, bus fares, clothing, medical check-ups as well as cultural and leisure activities.
We anticipate that in the near term costs will rise to around RS79,000 or £1,000 per girl as we further increase our resources and as proportionately more of our girls enter the later stages of their education and move to hostels in the city before developing an independent life.
Below are some more examples of how your monetary donation can be used to assist with running costs:
£1000 or Rs80000 will pay for one of our older girls for a year
£500 or Rs40000 will pay for a year’s supply of cooking gas
£100 or Rs8000 covers the cost of one month’s supply of milk for all 60 girls
£50 or Rs4000 covers the cost of one month’s supply of fresh fruit for all 60 girls
£25 or Rs2000 covers the cost of one month’s supply of eggs for all 60 girls
Staff Salaries - We rely on dedicated members of staff to live and work at Baale Mane 24 hours a day. This is not an easy commitment to make and without them there would be no support for the girls. An average caretaker receives Rs. 6,000/- per month not including benefits such as healthcare and pensions. We are currently in the process of advertising for new members of staff in order to better the care and support provided Baale Mane. Please make a donation so that we can continue paying our dedicated employees and so that we can support the new staff we are about to recruit.
Campus Extension – as per requirements set out by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) the buildings we currently occupy are sufficient for a maximum of 50 children. However, we have had up to 65 girls living in this same space. Ideally we would like to have slightly smaller dormitories inhabited by girls of the same age group. For example, currently a 1st standard girl is sleeping in the same dormitory as 1st PUC girls. Another issue is that at present the staff that live and work at Baale Mane are sleeping in the same dormitories as the girls. We feel that it is extremely important for staff that live and work here, to be provided with more privacy and personal space. These are some of the main reasons why we have decided to extend the Baale Mane Campus.
We have recruited a talented local Architect http://www.andagereassociates.com/ who has generously offered his professional services free of charge (bar expenses). His team are now working from a list of requirements provided by us in order to come up with a campus design.
The construction of the new buildings will cost Lakhs. Please donate towards the extension so that we may enhance the living environment for the current and future girls of the Baale Mane.
